Denzel Curry is more likely seen on festival lineups and album reviews than the cover of a magazine about sport. However, for issue 3 Good Sport chose to speak to the talented rap artist about his dedicated martial-arts practice. From sparring in the backyards of his hometown, Miami, to fingertip push-ups in the dojo, Curry is pushing his body and his art to the next level – all while cutting out smoking, drinking and sugar. The magazine continues its ‘left of field’ coverage of sport, with interviews with Ratking founder Sporting Life and Klaxons guitarist Simon Taylor. While Creative director Joe Staples talks about how he constantly finds similarities between advertising and Jiu Jitsu. The magazine’s ongoing love of food culture is at its finest in edition three, including an interview with globally renowned chef Ben Shewry. Rather than food, he speaks at length about how sport can help improve the standings of those less fortunate and his work with charity Helping Hoops. This edition also explores the diets of E-Gamers and the growing global popularity of this community. The magazine also delves into UK culture with the team behind Bad Sports, a sports bar that could even be for “sports haters”.
